The lower chamber of the Parliament of Canada unanimously supported the ratification of the free trade agreement with Ukraine. The Deputy Minister of Economic Development - Trade Representative of Ukraine Nataliya Mykolska wrote this on Facebook.
"Lower Chamber of the Parliament of Canada unanimously supported the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada 303 - for, 0 - against", reads the message.
Now, according to Mykolska, this legislative initiative must be ratified by the upper house of the Parliament of Canada - Senate.
"We are working very closely with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the ratification", she added.
Recall, Ukraine and Canada signed an agreement on free trade zone on July 11 of this year. According to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, an agreement on an FTA with Canada will be implemented in the period of 7 years.
The ministry forecast that since the entry into force of the agreement, Canada will open for Ukrainian exporting 98% of its market for goods, which is the subject of bilateral trade. Ukraine pledged to implement fully liberalized since the entry into force of the agreement for 72% of the goods, the abolition of import duties with the transitional periods of 3, 5 and 7 years for 27% of the goods, partial liberalization of sensitive agricultural commodities and so on.
