The European Commission (EC) has given Poland ultimatum with the requirement to amend the reform of the Constitutional Tribunal (CT), adopted at the beginning of the year, which, in the opinion of the EC violates the principle of the rule of law. The European Commission issued seven recommendations to Poland on its official website.

Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans expects the adoption of necessary changes by the Polish power in the next two months, Onet.pl informed.

In case of failure to adopt the recommendations within two months deadline, Brussels will decide on its further steps regarding Warsaw. Vice-President of the European Commission noted that the EU is not going to let this issue out of the field of view until the Polish government considers the issue of judicial independence in the country.

Timmermans has recognized that Article 7 of the treatise can be applied against Poland, which in agreement with all the countries participating in the European Commission may deprive Poland of voting rights in the EU Council.
