‘Traditionally, the country’s energy sector has had strong impact on Ukraine’s economy. That’s the field which the Russian government used to have greater impact on Ukraine. It was also highly corrupted sector, which had a negative influence on investors’ policy. This transformation is extremely important for competitiveness of the Ukrainian economy, for Ukraine’s cooperation with the international and particularly American business. We’ve been witnessing essential progress in fighting corruption in this area. There are pre-conditions for normal and civilized energy market, which may attract new investments,’ Geoffrey Pyatt said.

The U.S. diplomat added that the Cabinet has full support of the American government. ‘The EBRD is also very actively involved, and I’m 100 percent sure Ukraine will benefit from what’s happening and what will happen in the energy sector and other areas in the coming years,’ Pyatt concluded.
