Plenty of volunteers abandoned the Olympic volunteer program. They refused to assist the organizing committee of 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio; according to one of them, the organizers of the Games merely exploits workforce to make money. Many volunteers reported that they had to work much more than eight hours per shift, and they didn’t get any food during the work days.

The organizing committee said that cutting the number of volunteers will not affect further course of the competitions, for such situation was foreseen.
