59th Russian humanitarian convoy crossed Ukrainian border, the number of vehicles do not match the one announced earlier by the Foreign Ministry of Russian Federation.
Two colons of so called “humanitarian convoy” came through Russian border crossing checkpoint “Donetsk” and "Matveev Kurgan" to Ukraine in a time frame from 5:45 to 7:00. The colons consist of 46 vehicles.
The humanitarian convoy was proceeding with rude breaching of international and Ukrainian legislation norms and modalities agreed upon with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Therefore, Ukrainian border guards only conducted visual observation without performing control functions.
The trucks allegedly carried mainly food, medical supplies and gifts.
“The peculiarity of the 59th humanitarian convoy is that the the number of vehicles do not match the one announced earlier by the Foreign Ministry of Russian Federation.The announcement mentioned about 40 vehicles, but in fact 46 trucks entered Ukrainian territory,” the message says.
The representatives of interagency group will conduct visual inspection of vehicles on their way back to Russia, according to the Assistant of the Head of the State Border Guard Service Oleh Slobodyan.
"At the moment the representatives of the interagency group are still at checkpoints and they will carry out visual inspection of vehicles when they go back to Russia from the temporarily uncontrolled area," Slobodyan said.
Earlier it was reported that 59th Russian humanitarian convoy was on the way to Ukraine. It was announced to consist of 40 trucks.
