Russia will place additional anti-aircraft missile systems (AAMS) S-400 Triumph in the annexed Crimea. This was announced by the commander of Russian Air Force and Air Defense 4th Army lieutenant general Viktor Sevostyanov, reports "Interfax".
"Of course, this was envisaged. And I do not want to talk about the terms yet," Sevostyanov said.
In addition, anti-aircraft missile regiment equipped with S-400 system started its combat duty at the peninsula on January 14.
Sevostyanov added that with using S-400 military system the air defense capabilities of Crimea will significantly increase.
"This system allows you to simultaneously track and destroy up to 300 air and ground targets, operating at all speeds and altitudes," Sevostyanov said.
"S-400 operating in the Crimea, allows you to track and destroy targets manufactured using the 'stealth' technology, lieutenant general said.
Earlier Ukraine conducted missile firing exercises near Crimea. The peculiarity of the exercise was the execution of tasks by units of the air defense both by day and at night. The exercises were conducted using the simulation of air targets, the report said.
