Ukraine’s Security Service, the SBU, found and seized the live shell, fired from Russia-made multiple missile launcher ‘Smerch’ (Russian for ‘whirlwind’). The 300 mm shell was found in the yard of one of the locals in Berezove village, Maryinka district, in Donetsk region. The find was collected by the Service as another proof of Russia’s direct involvement in the Donbas conflict.

‘According to military experts, the shell fired from the multiple missile launcher included a cluster ammunition unit stuffed with shrapnel. Such ammunition is produced solely in Russia, and only regular servicemen of the Russian army can control and manage this weapon,’ the SBU’s press service says.
