Russia hands over to Ukraine prisoners from occupied Crimea

Twelve Ukrainian citizens serving sentence in the occupied Crimea were transferred to Ukraine. This was announced by Russian Federal Penitentiary Service, reports TASS.

Earlier the press service of the Ombudsman reported that prisoners transfer is taking place in Hoptivka border village.

Today, the convicted from Crimean prisons are transferred being using ad hoc mechanism that was proposed earlier by Valeriya Lutkovska.

She requested from her Russian colleagues Ella Pamfilova to transfer 22 prisoners serving sentences in prisons occupied Crimea to Ukraine in 2015.

Earlier it was reported that Russian Ombudsman promised to return Crimean prisoners to Ukraine. However, the transfer of prisoners from Crimea is a difficult procedure.
