Russia’s armed aggression in Ukraine was a pre-planned and carefully thought out operation. This was disclosed by Deputy Director of the Department of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Defence Ministry Vadym Skybytskyi during a parliamentary committee’s session. The session was broadcast by 112.ua.

“In fact the preparation for the aggression started soon after the Soviet Union’s disintegration. On May 21, 1992 the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation enacted a resolution which deemed the conveyance of the Crimean to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic unconstitutional. Moreover, resolutions were adopted on July 9, 1993 which confirmed the Russian federal status of the city of Sevastopol. The attempts to restore the claims of the Russian Federation regarding Ukraine have not stopped since then,” Skybytskyi said.

Today the Ukrainian Parliament is expected to publish verbatim records of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council deliberations with regard to Crimea of February 28, 2014.
