Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel, the Kremlin website reports.
"The sides expressed grave concern at the escalation of armed conflict, in which the lives were lost, and which resulted in significant destruction of civilian infrastructure and housing in a number of settlements of Donbas", reads the statement.
Vladimir Putin stressed on the desire of Kyiv to allegedly disrupt the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the situation in the Donbas region:
"Vladimir Putin drew attention of Merkel to the OSCE special monitoring mission, as well as the statements of official representatives of Kyiv, testifying to the attempts of Ukrainian security forces by military means to change the situation on the contact line in their favor. There is a clear desire of Kyiv authorities to disrupt the implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well as to use the Normandy format as a cover for their destructive steps", Kremlin reports.
"Russian President and the German Chancellor spoke in favor of the immediate restoration of the ceasefire and supported the efforts of the OSCE Special monitoring mission", summed up in the press service of the Russian Federation.
