There are no draftees, that is, conscripts, among those serving in Donbas now. Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine, posted that on his Facebook account.   

‘As the head of the state and the Superior Commander, I can report to the Ukrainian nation and say there is not a single drafted person in the combat area. The Armed Forces should consist of volunteers and professional soldiers who are duly trained, motivated and supplied,’ he wrote.

Previously, the President announced that the Ukrainian army will become the army of volunteers and contracted professionals. Currently, over 56,000 contracted soldiers serve with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
