In determining the parameters of the OSCE police mission in Donbas proposed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the main role should belong to the organization itself. Such a position of the Kremlin announced the Russian President's Press Secretary, Dmitriy Peskov, TASS reports.
"Yes, it was a proposal of the President Poroshenko, and despite the very restrained reaction of Putin's colleagues from Germany and France, Putin agreed to the idea, but assuming that the major role is assigned to the OSCE itself", Peskov said.
"Discussing any modality or amount with no data on the possibilities of the OSCE's approach is hardly possible. Such a practice would be new for the OSCE because there were hardly any similar precedents", Peskov added.
Kremlin Spokesman stressed: "As far as we know, the OSCE haven’t answered to Poroshenko on his initiative yet".
As reported, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Germany, France and Russia supported the placement of the OSCE armed mission on the Ukraine-controlled areas of the Donbas region, including those along the border with the Russian Federation to ensure the preparations for the upcoming local elections "when security conditions permit the holding of these elections".
