Russia-backed mercenaries have been extensively using artillery and mortars to fire at Ukrainian positions in Donbas. Most of the attacks took place in the Mariupol sector. Maryinka, Novomykhailivka and Pavlopol were shelled from 82 mm mortars, small arms, RPGs and heavy machineguns. Talakivka and Shyrokyne went under fire from anti-tank missile launchers, RPGs and 120 mm mortars. Enemy IFV fired on Starohnativka, in Krasnohorivka and Hnutove, the rebels opened fire from 82 and 120 mm mortars. In Vodyane, Ukrainian positions went under fire from 152 mm artillery.
Over the last 24 hours, mortars were also frequently used in the Donetsk sector – specifically, in Verkhnyotoretske and Troitske, Avdiivka and Butivka coal mine.
In Luhansk region, the enemy opened fire on Lopaskyno, Krymske, Troitske and Kalynovo-Popasna. Mortars and 122 mm artillery were used during these attacks.
