The worsening situation in Avdiivka revealed the use of prohibited weapons by the Minsk Agreements by Russian troops. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Ivana Klympush-Tsintsadze during a speech in the European Parliament.

"Shelling in Avdiivka demonstrated the use of weapons by Russian troops, which are prohibited by the Minsk Agreements. In particular, Russia-backed militants attacked from large-caliber ammunition, multiple rocket launchers, 120 mm guns and from a tank", said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze.

According to the Vice Prime Minister for European Integration, as a result of deterioration of the situation in the Donbas region in a week 15 Ukrainian soldiers and three civilians were killed, and more than a hundred soldiers and nine civilians were wounded. "Many times multiple rocket launchers were used from the residential areas of Donetsk in order to fire Avdiivka", she added.

By Minsk agreement heavy weapons like the ones used are banned, moreover shooting from civilian areas to get response, in order to blame other sides civilian attack is forbiddden in international law.
