Living on a boarder in the anti-terroristic operation area is dire and demanding. During the hostilities three locals were reported to have been killed. Literally, every building is damaged here. As witnessed by local people, militants fired the town with mortars. The local church was significantly ruined by multiple mortar launchers “Grad”. The local council’s work is restored, but the post office is not working until now. Only one market works here, which closes even around lunch time; it provides simply some basic food. There were two bridges over a small river Luhanka; one of them is in such disrepair that it had to be closed, another one was blown up by the militants. The local school had been recently renovated after last year's attacks. People have been living in constant fear ever since full-scale fighting resumed here.
According to the anti-terrorisstic operation press-center, Troitske faced intensive attacks during June 2015. The World Bank, the UN and the EU estimated that $1.2 bln is needed to recreate the released Donbas territories, employ the local people and assist housing for IDPs.
