Ukraine raises its subsistence minimum to $63 per month

From September 1 more than 80 types of social paments will be increased

“Together with President Poroshenko, we have agreed on the need to improve the social standards. The current law stipulates that from December 1, the subsistence minimum and minimum wage are to be increased. We are working hard to find the financial resources and increase the minimum wage and minimum income for Ukrainians from September 1. And this decision is already made,” stated Prime Minister Yatseniuk in his weekly video “10 minutes with Prime Minister”.

According to estimations of Ministry of Social Policy, raising of the social standards will embrace more than 12.5 mln Ukrainians. The government has allocated an additional $472 mln to cover the payments. The subsistence minimum is to be raised from September 1, and more than 80 types of social payments, allowances, compensations, and scholarships, will be increased too. 

Currently the minimum wage in Ukraine is $57.
