Ukraine buys coal imported from the Republic of South Africa at 57 USD per a ton, said Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn (Ukrainski novyny).
“The contract on the import of coal from the Republic of South Africa allows us to increase the volume of purchases indefinitely. The day before yesterday, Yuzhny port in Odesa hosted the first ship loaded with coal. The quality has been confirmed, and the price is quite attractive – 57 dollars per a ton”, he said.
The Minister added that the amount of coal imported from the the Republic of South Africa is only limited by financial resources and capability of Ukrainian seaports to take and transfer cargo.
In late November, Demchyshyn said that from December 4 till 12, seaports of Odesa will take about 250 thousand tons of coal from the Republic of South Africa.
Earlier, the Minister said that the price of South African coal for Ukraine is 77-78 USD per a ton.
