Ukraine suspended deliveries of the Phenylephrine to the Russian Federation. It’s an anesthetic included in the list of vital and essential drugs, "Kommersant" writes.

The drug is made of Mezatonum Testing plant at Kharkiv State Scientific Center of drugs, its generic name is Phenylephrine. This is a popular anesthetic that is used for local and general anesthesia in case of injuries, wounds and acute circulatory failure. Phenylephrine should be stored in every clinic, as well as in ambulances.

"The Russian government has compiled a list of vital and essential drugs in 2010, where Mezatonum came in. But its purchase price has not changed since then. We are not able to re-register the price of the drug. At the moment, we can simply no longer supply it at the same price, as this would mean that we are working at a loss", the plant representative Natalia Vorona says.

However, she stressed that the refusal to supply Phenylephrine to Russia is not connected with politics. "We want to work with Russia, but, as with any business venture, we want to make a profit. It is no longer possible under the old conditions", she adds.
