Ukroboronprom

State-run defense enterprise Ukroboronprom sent the first batch of new 120 mm mortars to the Armed Forces. The guns, called “Molot”, were positively evaluated by the Defense Ministry experts, and now their potential may be used in real combat situations, said Olexandr Peregudov, Director at the Mayak factory, where the mortar was designed and is currently assembled.

Molot is a Ukraine-made mortar, designed to destroy the enemy’s manpower and fortifications. It took two months for specialists to design the new gun. Unlike the old Soviet mortars, Molot is made of modern alloys which extend the life span of the weapon. The Molot’s rate of fire is 12 shots per minute, and the striking range equals 7 km. The combat-ready gun weighs 210 kilograms.
