2016 year for the global art market was a period of relative stability: quite high rates of sales, and the return of China, which lost its positions in late 2015 and became second after the US. According to Artprice online service, only the in the first 6 month of this year, the turnover of Celestial funds with leading world auction has reached more than $ 570 million. Here are ten countries, which have spent the greatest amounts of money for art: China, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, and South Korea. People on both sides of the Atlantic adore works of the Impressionists, representatives of postwar art and, of course, modern art. Pablo Picasso, Zhang Dacian, Wu Guanzhong, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol, Qi Baishi, Alexander Calder – here is a dozen artists, to whom special attention was paid at 2016 auctions.

And what about Ukraine? According to Golden Section auction house, the demand for art of the sixties has drown, as well as the interest (and ability) to buy domestic contemporary art. During the year, the lots in the auction amounted to 55-70%, depending on the thematic focus of the auctions.

In 2016, Ukraine has supported the popularity trend of graphics, however, "domestic art market is experiencing a fading period. Prices have fallen at times, and sometimes, and dozens of times. Vendors are in no hurry to part with what was bought at the peak of growth, consumers are hesitant to invest, not realizing the future prospects. However, development of the world history of art suggests that the 10-year cycle has always been important. After reaching the "bottom" prices begin to rise and eventually exceed the peak of the previous cycle.
