July 15, Prosecutor General arrested one of the most controversial developers of Ukraine, Anatoly Wojciechowski. Kyiv builder and owner of the group of companies "Uco" and "City Group" was arrested and informed of the suspected crimes.

Wojciechowski is accused of tax evasion in the amount of 12.5 million UAH, creation of an organized criminal group for the capture of land plots in Kyiv, building residential and office complexes on them (in 2004-2016), and embezzlement of investors.

This speculation has a quite long history. Since 2004, Wojciechowski together with his henchmen, has bought shares in the capital of 12 companies, and later reissued them to the front companies. With these companies, he seized land for the construction of 42 objects.

His first project was "Elegant" LCD 32-storey building on Zhylianska Street, close to the central railway station. In 2007, Anatoly Wojciechowski came to the station without any money, but found a nearby land for construction and contacted the owner.

Somehow he found a couple of thousand hryvnia, constructed a fence, bought vests, helmets, and found 10 homeless individuals agreed to clean the territory for some 100 hryvnia per day.

After this case, he began to actively build new buildings around Kyiv. Construction went without permits, and investors' money were more easily appropriated.

He could easily sell the same apartment for three or more times, and this apartment might be in a non-existent house.

Often illegal construction began without permits, without proper registration, violating the building codes.

Later, some of the illegally constructed facilities were put into operation on the basis of the fake court decisions and illegal registration in the State Register of real estate.

Currently, unauthorized constructions, seized land plots, and Wojciechowski’s property worth over 200 million UAH are under arrest.

The investigation of seizure of 40 land plots in Kyiv and unauthorized construction continues. Up to 12 thousand people became victims of fraud.

The criminal pyramid existed for over 10 years. Here a logical question arises, why the police did not investigate the schemes of Wojciechowski.

After the change of power in Ukraine in 2014, General Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case against former prosecutor general Viktor Pshonka and his son, MP Artem Pshonka. They are accused of shielding the illegal constructions.

In addition, the journalists wrote about Wojciechowski’s close relationships with the former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

In 2015, police began to arrest and stop the construction of residential complexes of "Uco" group.

The question of deceived investors and unfinished facilities remains unsolved.
