Several fighters of the National Guard of Ukraine were injured as a result of Sunday’s break of Mikhail Saakashvili’s supporters through the state border with Poland. It was stated by the press service of the State Border Service.
"During the incident, several soldiers of the National Police and the Border Service were injured," the report said.
State Border Guard Service stressed that the activists started a fight with the National Police and border guards, broke into the checkpoint and facilitated the illegal crossing of the state border by a group of people, including people's deputies.
Law enforcement agencies said they would react to the situation with a breakthrough of supporters of Saakashvili through the state border with Poland. This was stated by Ministry of Internal Affairs representative Artem Shevchenko in his interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
As reported before, September 10, Mikheil Saakashvili has arrived in Ukraine. He literally broke into Ukraine, because the crowd that gathered at “Shehyni” checkpoint broke through the border from the Ukrainian side and started a fight with the border guards who stood in the transit zone. Assistant to the Head of the State Border Service Oleg Slobodyan noted that the consequences of such events are quite unpredictable.
Mikheil Saakashvili has been trying to cross the border of Ukraine from the afternoon. Initially, it was planned that he would cross the border through "Krakovets" checkpoint. A lot of his supporters gathered there. A fight with the police occurred there. As a result of the riots, more than one hundred people were detained. Also a girl from “Femen” organization has performed her action, baring her breasts. Considering all these facts, Saakashvili’s party "Movement of New Forces" decided that their would go to Ukraine by train from Przemysl.
As reported by Ukraine’s train service "Ukrzaliznytsya," the train was delayed because of a person who has no reason to enter Ukraine. It was, apparently, Mikheil Saakashvili.
As a result, passengers of the train, including Saakashvili, were transported by bus to “Shehyni” checkpoint. Saakashvili has crossed Polish border, but the Ukrainian checkpoint was closed, allegedly due to mining. Thus, Saakashvili and the people with whom he was traveling turned out to be in the transit zone between Poland and Ukraine. Meanwhile, supporters of the former head of Odesa regional administration and former president of Georgia staged a political action, which resulted in the illegal border crossing.
Myrotvorets, Ukrainian website that purports to reveal personal information of people who are considered to be "enemies of Ukraine," has added the ex-president of Georgia and the former head of Odesa Regional Administration Mikheil Saakashvili to the list of violators.
